AGF Group’s new head office involved an 18,000 m² renovation and expansion spanning three levels. These sweeping changes meant that new office furniture was needed for the employees of AGF Steel Longueuil, as well as those of AGF Group. All of the new furniture was built by cabinetmakers from Element, using KLH panels!

But what happened with all the desks, chairs, filing cabinet and other accessories formerly in the AGF Steel and Armabec offices?

Sylvain Vaillancourt, general manager of AGF Steel, suggested to the Foundation’s management committee that a garage sale be held. This excellent idea made it possible to raise $17,170, making it a very lucrative first fundraiser for the Foundation!

First, three truckloads of furniture were shipped to Toronto to meet Steeplejack’s pressing needs. Then, a call was put out to all of the Group’s divisions; Technik and ATR took advantage of the opportunity. Lastly, a final sale was held for AGF Group’s employees and friends. In all, more than 20 desks, about 50 chairs, two conference tables (plus many other items!) were sold.

Congratulations to the Foundation for this initiative and thanks to all who contributed to the success of this fundraising activity.

And the next time you visit the Steeplejack offices, keep your eyes peeled: you just might spot Mr. Gendron’s old desk there!
