AGF Raymond Rebar Ready to Help Construct OLRT

According to the City of Ottawa, we have the highest ridership of public transit of any city of this size in North America. They have predicted that it will grow by 78% over the next 20 years.  With this growth comes the problem of accommodating the immense amount of people who take city transportation, especially in the downtown core.  With the City's conclusion that they have reached the maximum street capacity for buses in the downtown core, they have decided to convert the existing bus transitway and make it into a Light Rail Transit System.  Known as the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) project, construction is now underway and it expected to be completed and ready for public use in 2018.

AGF Raymond Rebar is pleased to be involved in such a paramount project for the City of Ottawa. The OLRT will be a 12.5 km transitway that will run from Blair Road to Tunney's pasture with a 2.5 km underground tunnel in the downtown region to allow trains to travel with speed and frequency without the usual traffic delays. It will have 13 stations along the transitway. So far, AGF Raymond has been awarded three projects for this endeavor.  We will be supplying and installing approximately 2200 MT of rebar for the preparatory work for the Parliament Station, Maintenance and Storage Facility and Access Track for the Confederation Line. Construction has begun and we are so excited to be part of Ottawa's new transportation system.
