Synergy

Synergy projects between the various Quebec business divisions are multiplying. There are several advantages in becoming familiar with the activities of each group, whether it is for sharing data on clients, suppliers or on various methods of operation or for referencing project opportunities.

We started by sharing knowledge acquired in workforce management at AGF Steel to improve the performance of scaffolding system and rising platform installation teams. A big step was taken in planning interventions. We realise that the operations activities in reinforcing steel and access are very similar, and that it is in our interest to share best practices in terms of quality of work, efficiency of intervention, and health and safety.

One example of a successful opportunity referencing is the securing by AGF Du-For of a major contract worth $1,050,000 from “Les Entreprises QMD Inc.”, for the refection of masonry joints on the McGill University Strathcona building, in Montreal. QMD is the same company that completed the expansion of the AGF Group headquarters in Longueuil. After attending a sales meeting during which that major project was discussed, Maxime was able to help promote AGF Du-For’s expertise and professionalism to QMD and thus gain their trust.  His intervention turned out to be a key element in obtaining the contract.

Furthermore, the traditional AGF Steel Site Foremen Spring Meeting was held at the AGF Du-For plant in Montreal. The aim was to develop links between the teams and to introduce the Access Group product line and expertise to reinforcement steel foremen.  We hope that foremen will be able to determine when an access solution might help contractors work more efficiently on site. We are aware that this is only a first meeting between our teams and that there is still much work to be done to establish an effective ongoing synergy within the AGF Group.
