The whole is bigger than the sum of its parts...

Many of you have taken part in employee initiatives to raise funds for the AGF Group Foundation or a local charity you care about. This is great! Some of you are still trying to come up with an idea or find an opportunity to participate. And this is precisely what I wanted to talk about here!

Since the Foundation was created about three years ago, employee initiatives have grown from seven to nearly 30 per year across AGF Group. This is impressive progress! And even if the activities don’t necessarily raise money, they give people who spend their days together an opportunity to pool their efforts outside the workplace.

It’s easy to set up a fundraiser. Here are some recent initiatives by your colleagues, to inspire you.

Hot dog lunch
BBQ
Theme lunch
Rummage sale
Sale of coffee, muffins and treats on an annual basis
Carwash

Car show
Triathlon
Family days and friendly competitions
Sale of homemade desserts
Relax-a-Thon (massages at the office)
Simple cash donations

            

If your fundraiser is to benefit an organization of your choice—which is most often the case—AGF Group Foundation will match the amount you raise, up to $500 per activity. In total, employee initiatives have raised more than $27,000 in three years! Even the least  “profitable” activity managed to raise $68, which proves that every cent counts. Since 2012, the AGF Group Foundation has supported 115 different charities, several of them more than once, and all with a connection to AGF Group’s employees or partners. If you want to get involved, why not speak with the Foundation’s ambassadors in your unit, or become an ambassador yourself? Ask your GM who the ambassador is for your group.
