A name change that reflects growing synergies

In the beginning, there was just one office and its adjoining plant. Then, the company expanded following a merger-acquisition, and AGF Steel added a new specialty: scaffolding and access. Since the 2000s, our growth by acquisition has been explosive! Companies that were well established in their local markets began joining what would become AGF Group.  All of this ended by creating a wide assortment of company names, which didn’t help AGF Group position itself vis à vis its customers, who still didn’t know which regions we were operating in. As well, as a Group, if we wanted to create genuine synergies, we needed our name to reflect this.

A massive effort went into standardizing the names of all our companies. This exhaustive process included legally changing the names of several of our subsidiaries. A name change may seem like a simple thing, but it entails a great deal of follow-up: administrative (contacting the banks), commercial (notifying customers and suppliers), IT (changing email addresses), legal (changing listings in corporate registries), not to mention all the communications (logos, website, letterhead, business cards, corporate documents, vehicles, identification on construction sites) and much more.

To help you find your way around, here is a table that presents our subsidiaries and divisions.
