AGF continues its francization efforts

The French Language Charter, which was adopted in 1977, is aimed at making French the primary language of work and business in Quebec. Did you know that, to do so, the Charter requires companies with 100 or more employees to undertake a francization process and to create a francization committee?

In the past, AGF successfully completed all the steps in the francization process and obtained its francization certificate.

However, receiving this certificate from the Office québécois de la langue française does not mean there is no longer any need to improve the situation and the quality of French in the workplace.

After obtaining the certificate, the committee members must ensure that:
• the establishment of French as the language of work is genuine and lasting;
• the company prepares and submits a report on the state of French every three years.

The francization committee, which meets every six months, provides information to other staff members. It ensures that the use of French is widespread and makes the appropriate recommendations to management. It also participates in distributing and promoting French terminology in the workplace.

AGF’s committee members are:
Elise Bariteau (AGF Group)
Dany Beaupré (AGF Steel Longueuil)
Dominic Boivin (Ecan)
Pierre Colangelo (AGF Group)
Joëlle Meloche (AGF Group)
Céline St-Aubin (ATR)

On behalf of the committee members, I encourage you to pay particular attention to the French used in your work environment and report any anomalies in the francization process.
