Awarding of a contract

AGF is proud to announce the awarding of a major contract: the supply, cut and bend of reinforcing steel for the Hebron Oil Development Project offshore Newfoundland.

This contract will require the hiring of more than forty workers and the setting up of a plant in Mount Pearl, in the Greater St John’s Area, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The manufacturing of the 45,000 tons of rebar required for this special project is expected to begin in fall 2012 and shall be completed three years later.

The Hebron Project is somewhat reminiscent of the Hibernia Oil Platform Project run by AGF in the 1990s, a significant achievement that has enabled AGF to earn its place on the international stage.

Hebron is a oil field located 350 kilometers southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland and is estimated to have 700 million barrels of crude oil. Its construction cost is estimated to $5.6 billion.
