AGF Reinforcing Inc, a division of AGF Group in Alberta, is currently working on the Highway 29 project over the Halfway River. (3500 mt), in the Peace Valley, British Columbia. This undertaking is part of a collaborative effort with AGF Reinforcing BC.
It's a large bridge of over 1km, with the largest piers reaching 47 meters in height. It will be used to reorient the existing highway. Once the Site C dam is opened, the Peace River valley will be flooded beneath the new reservoir and the old bridge will be under approximately 45 meters of water.
The project was awarded to AGF Reinforcing Alberta and is being constructed with the help of the newest colleagues of AGF Reinforcing BC Inc. in Bristish Columbia : Roger Lussier (General Manager) and Pete Hayes (Field Superintendent) have been an integral part of the current success on this project to date.
We started work on site in February 2020 and we are scheduled to finish the deck in late May to early June of 2021. There will be a break in the project from December to April in order to erect the girders for the bridge deck.
The challenges to date have ranged from construcability issues, weather delays, covid-19, etc. A major hurdle is the fact that the fabrication plant supplying the rebar is over 1,000 km from site.
The on site supervisor for this project is Vahidin Gorovic. He has proven himself to be a great addition to our team. He has overcome many challenges on the project to date and we have confidence that he and his placers will lead this project to a safe and successful completion.
This achievement allows AGF to build a reputation in this region of British Columbia. It is the execution of projects like this that helps make AGF the leader in the reinforcing steel industry. AGF Western Canada, working together as a team, is proving that we are on our way to becoming a leader in the new Reinforcing markets.
AGF Reinforcing Inc, división de Grupo AGF en Alberta, trabaja actualmente en el proyecto de la autopista 29 sobre el río Halfway (3500 t), en el valle de la Paz, en Colombia Británica.
Se trata de un gran puente de más de 1 km que será utilizado para reorientar la autopista actual. Una vez que se abra la presa del Sitio C, el valle del río de la Paz estará inundado bajo el nuevo depósito y el puente antiguo se encontrará bajo aproximadamente 45 m de agua.
El proyecto fue otorgado a AGF Reinforcing Alberta y está en curso de construcción con la ayuda de los nuevos miembros de la familia AGF en Colombia Británica. Roger Lussier y Pete Haye, director general y director de terreno de AGF Reinforcing BC, contribuyeron al éxito de este proyecto hasta ahora.
