On January 25, our India division officially opened its rebar fabrication plant, which currently employs five people.
The goal in the short and medium term is to survey the Indian market, supplying rebar mainly for residential projects.
In the long term, our ambition is greater. In the years ahead, there are major projects planned in the region where AGF Tecnik operates—subways, an airport and road infrastructures—all market opportunities we would like to be able to tap into.
Multiculturalism is a real asset at AGF Group. We thank Dhoni, general manager at GF Tecnik, for sharing a few words about “Thai Pongal,” the main festival in South India, which took place from January 15 to 18.
“Grand feasts are arranged on this day and people light bonfire to make this festival a magnificent occasion. This four-day festival is eagerly awaited by Tamils all over the world. The most important part is the preparation of the Pongal dish with rice mixed with moong dal and cooked with ghee, cashew nuts, and raisins adding jaggery.
Thai Pongal can be considered as a festival of Thanksgiving, as it is celebrated after the harvest to give thanks to the Sun God and to cattle for helping farmers achieve large and abundant harvests.

Una planta para AGF Tecnik
Desde el 25 de enero, nuestra división en India abrió oficialmente su fábrica de acero de refuerzo, la cual cuenta por el momento con cinco empleados.
El objetivo a corto y mediano plazo es explorar el mercado de la India, por medio del abastecimiento de acero de refuerzo para proyectos esencialmente residenciales.
A largo plazo, nuestra ambición es más grande. Hay que tomar en cuenta que en la región de la India en la que AGF Tecnik se estableció, se han programado proyectos importantes: metros, aeropuerto, infraestructuras viales. Deseamos poder cubrir estos mercados.
Festival de Thai Pongal
El multiculturalismo de Grupo AGF es una verdadera riqueza. Le agradecemos a Dhoni, Director General de AGF Technik, por habernos hablado un poco sobre el principal festival del sur de la India, Thai Pongal, el cual se realizó del 15 al 18 de enero:
“Se organizan grandes fiestas, la gente realiza fogatas que hacen que este festival sea una magnífica celebración. Este festival de cuatro días es el más esperado por los tamiles del mundo entero. La parte más importante es la preparación del plato de Pongal: una mezcla de arroz con leche fresca y melaza o azúcar morena, nuez de la India y pasas.
”El festival Thai Pongal puede ser considerado como la fiesta de Acción de Gracias, ya que es celebrada después de la cosecha de los cultivos y tiene como objetivo agradecerle al Dios Sol y al ganado por haber ayudado a los agricultores a obtener cosechas grandes y abundantes.
”Les deseo a todos un Pongal placentero y alegre. Que los dioses y las diosas los bendigan con felicidad, riqueza y salud este año.”
