What’s new at Winsafe

The past year has continued to provide us with new opportunities for growth not only within the industries that we operate in, but also within our local, workplace community.

This past year, we won our first Canadian contract to provide a Boiler Maintenance Work Platform for Saskpower. After years of success with the BMWP in the United States, we are happy to be able to have the opportunity to install this large boiler access system here in Canada. Our plant will be working throughout the year to build and then do a full scale test of the system before installation takes place in early 2015.

After being awarded the contract to provide all the permanently installed building maintenance equipment for the brand new Exxon Mobile campus in late 2012, work commenced last year and continues into this year. It involves providing all the davits, davit sockets, stages and tie-backs required for the 17 buildings of the campus located in Spring, Texas. This is currently one of the largest construction projects in all of North America and we are proud to be a part of it.

With the summer coming up, we’ll be looking to continue our charitable efforts as well. Last summer, Winsafe held a Show & Shine car show to help raise money for charity at our manufacturing facility in Woodstock, Ontario. Though the weather could have been better and might have contributed to a parking lot deprived of a full fleet of classic and custom cars, some owners still took the chance in the hope that the rain would hold off. Fortunately it did and as the barbecue got going at lunchtime, the clouds dissipated and the sun came out.

The Show & Shine car show was conceived of and organized at monthly charity meetings held by volunteers here at Winsafe. It was these meetings that helped us come up with great ideas like going to local businesses for donations of things like food for the barbecue or talking to local radio stations to get some free publicity leading up to the event.

Aside from larger events, we try to have smaller, intercompany events as well such as a 50/50 draw where we donate some items in combination with half of all the proceeds we raise from ticket sales as the prize. This past month, Jeffery Wu was our lucky winner.

Whether we are working on the next big project or putting in the time for an upcoming fundraiser, everyone here at Winsafe takes pride in always finding new and innovative ways to achieve anything that we set out to do.
